Suspect wanted in Dougall Ave robbery arrested

Windsor police say that a man wanted for a robbery has been apprehended.

It happened around noon on Wednesday, April 14, at a business on Dougall Avenue and West Grand Boulevard. Police responded to a call about a person with a gun. The suspect fled before officers arrived.

Investigators soon learned the suspect's identity and that he had been staying nearby. But before police could speak to him, he left the area. Members of the Major Crime Unit obtained a warrant for the place the suspect was staying in and found items of evidential value.

Police confirmed on Thursday afternoon that 19-year-old Chad Coupe of London is in custody.

Coupe was wanted for robbery with an offensive weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of weapons dangerous to the public, and failing to comply with a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence.

It was not clear if Coupe was actually charged with the same offences, and the charges have not been proven in court.
