Town of Essex to test emergency alert system

Residents of Essex shouldn't worry if they receive an emergency alert message from the municipality on Friday.

The town says it will be conducting a test of the EssexAlerts Emergency Notification System on May 7 at 1:30 p.m.

Registrants and all publicly listed phone numbers in Essex will receive a phone call, text message, or email. Recipients will be able to confirm if they received the alert, they may get a voicemail or missed call notification from the Essex Municipal Office phone number which is 519-776-7336.

During a real emergency, town officials say the alert system will be used to notify residents of the situation and advise them of any further actions they should take.
