WRH launches recruitment drive for nursing staff

Windsor Regional Hospital has launched a major recruitment drive for registered nurses.

The drive includes many incentives, funded through the provincial government, to attract nurses to the critical care, medical, and post-anesthesia care units at both hospital campuses.

“We are searching Canada and the U.S.A. for energetic, dedicated, critical care, PACU, OR and medical/surgical team members who share our commitment of care delivery in our wonderful community,” said WRH Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Executive Karen Riddell.

Critical Care nurses working out of province or out of the country could be eligible for signing bonuses of up to $75,000. Registered nurses working out of province or retired nurses still registered could also be eligible for $25,000 signing bonuses.

The signing bonuses are part of a provincial program to address the critical care capacity shortage in the hospital system.

Windsor Regional Hospital currently has around 30 open positions to fill but officials say that number could grow in the months ahead.
