Amherstburg man charged in alleged impaired driving crash

A man in his early 20s has been charged after a passenger was seriously hurt in a crash near Amherstburg over the weekend.

According to Windsor police, emergency crews responded to a call about a single-vehicle collision on Concession Road #3 North near Middle Side Road just before midnight on Saturday.

Officers arrived on scene and located a white 2011 Ford Fusion with severe damage.

Police say two occupants were found inside the vehicle. The driver was later arrested by officers who suspected he was impaired, while the occupant was extracted from the car and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 22-year-old man from Amherstburg is charged with impaired operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

Windsor police continue to investigate the incident and ask that anyone with home surveillance in the area review it, and contact police with any possible evidence.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
