Only 1 new COVID-19 case in Windsor-Essex

There was only one new case of COVID-19 recorded in Windsor Essex on Tuesday.

The new infection was picked up somewhere in the community.  There have been 16,785 cases of COVID-19 recorded in Windsor-Essex since the pandemic started.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is monitoring 54 active cases. Among the active infections, 19 have been identified as variants of concern. It is also monitoring two active outbreaks in the community.

Windsor Regional Hospital is treating six patients who have tested positive for the virus.

To date, 269,165 residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Of those, 116,474  have been fully vaccinated.

Anyone who received an mRNA vaccine on or before May 9, is now eligible to receive a second dose of a vaccine. Appointments can be made through wevax.ca.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
