No charges related to hazardous material call

The Windsor Police Service says there will be no charges laid in connection to the hazardous material call officers responded to on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, police were called to the parking lot of Canadian Tire on Tecumseh Road East for a possible hazardous substance.  Multiple units responded to the call including the Explosive Disposal Unit. First responders stayed on the scene for several hours.

Police confirm the substance was hazardous and has been safely disposed of.

"We will not be releasing the details of the substance as this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety," said Constable Talya Natyshak with the Corporate Communications Unit.

Multiple officers were taken to the hospital after being exposed to the substance but have since been released.
