Portions of Amherstburg under boil-water advisory

Some Amherstburg residents are asked to boil their water due to a poor water sample.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has issued a boil water advisory for the Bar Point and Lakewood service areas, in southwestern Amherstburg, after a routine testing sample came up adverse.

The health unit recommends that people living in these areas bring their water to a one-minute rolling boil before drinking, cooking, or infant feeding, to kill any bacteria. The water should then be cooled and placed in a clean, covered container and refrigerated until you're ready to use it.

Tap water can still be used for handwashing, bathing, and showering, according to the health unit.

Residents will be notified once the advisory is lifted, and they can use their water again as usual.
