Crews respond to apartment fire in downtown Windsor

Firefighters in Windsor were kept busy Saturday afternoon when a fire broke out at an apartment on Ouellette Avenue.

Sometime after 12 p.m., crews responded to a building on fire in the 1500 block of Ouellette Avenue just north of Tecumseh Road.

Windsor police also arrived on scene to assist fire crews with detouring traffic around the area.

At around 1:30 p.m., Windsor fire confirmed the blaze was out and that crews were ventilating the building and conducting an overhaul.

No other details on a damage estimate or cause have been determined.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
