Faulty electrical fire in LaSalle causes $45,000 in damage

Damage to a LaSalle home following an electrical fire was quickly controlled thanks to a nearby citizen.

Lasalle Fire Service responded to the fire in the 400 block of Victory Street Sunday morning.

Fire officials said they were called after a passerby had noticed smoke coming from the home and heard the fire alarms going off inside the house.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

Fire officials said the damage was caused by faulty electrical equipment in the attic.

No injuries were reported and damage is estimated at $45,000.
