Another 21 cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported 21 new cases of COVID-19 in the region on Tuesday.

Among the new cases, six are close contacts with previously confirmed infections and one case was picked up somewhere in the community. Another 14 cases are still under investigation by case and contact management staff.

There are now 145 active cases and 46 involve a variant of concern.

Two patients remain in the hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19.

The health unit is monitoring outbreaks at three workplaces.

Since Monday, there were 1,314 COVID-19 vaccines given out in Windsor-Essex. To date, 76.8 per cent of eligible residents have had a single dose and 68.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
