Regatta sets sail from Tecumseh sailing club this weekend

A sailing club in Tecumseh is welcoming sailors from across Ontario this weekend to take part in the first Shark regatta since the start of the pandemic.

The event, the Annual Hal Ebert Memorial Regatta, is in memory of Hal Ebert. He was one of Lake St. Clair's most prominent Shark Sailors and a four-time winner of the Shark World Championship.

It is taking place this weekend at the South Port Sailing Club. About 17 boats are registered.

The Shark is a 24-foot racing sailboat.

The South Port Sailing Club hosted the annual Shark World Championships in 2005 and attracted over 40 boats and sailors from seven countries.

The race gets underway at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
