30-year-old arrested in Windsor robbery

Windsor police say a man has been charged following a robbery last week in the downtown core.

It happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, at a business in the area of Wyandotte Street West and Church Street. Police say the suspect tried to buy items in the store, and when the purchase was denied struck the female clerk in the face and took off with the merchandise. The woman suffered minor injuries.

At around 5 p.m. Sunday, a Windsor police officer recognized the suspect from previous encounters, walking in the general area where the incident took place. He was arrested without incident.

The 30-year-old Windsor man is charged with one count of robbery. The charge has yet to be proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
