Over 200 COVID-19 cases identified over three days

There were 213 new COVID-19 cases identified over the last three days in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit confirmed 57 cases on Saturday, 88 on Sunday, and 68 on Monday.

There are 518 active infections now and 330 of them involve a variant of concern.

Local hospitals are treating 12 patients who have tested positive for the virus.  At least eight of them are unvaccinated and one is only partially vaccinated.

The health unit is monitoring 12 workplace outbreaks and three community outbreaks. Almost all of the outbreaks involve the Delta variant.

To date, 79 per cent of the eligible population in Windsor Essex has been partially vaccinated and 72 per cent is fully vaccinated.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
