Ground breaks on new pickleball courts in Tecumseh

Pickleball players now have a new option in Tecumseh.

The ground has broken on a new ten-court facility in Lacasse Park.

"The Parks and Recreation Department has worked closely with our local pickleball players and recognized the need for additional courts," said Director of Parks and Recreation Paul Anthony. "The new ten-court complex will provide for the ever-increasing growth of the sport, as well as providing our community the opportunity to host large tournaments."

The Tecumseh Pickleball Association raised $150,000 towards the $755,000 cost of the courts, new drainage, fencing, walkways, and an accessory building.

The project should be complete by next month and open for use in the spring of 2022.

Tecumseh Town Council voted to go ahead with the project last December as part of its five-year capital project plan.

Tecumseh Parks and Recreation offers seasonal memberships allowing users access to the outdoor courts.
