Shutdown at Windsor Assembly extended yet again

The parts shortage that has plagued production at Stellantis' Windsor Assembly Plant has struck again.

Unifor Local 444, which represents hourly workers at the plant, reported via Twitter Wednesday evening that the facility's current shutdown has been extended by two weeks.

The plant, which was shut down this week, will also be idle on the weeks of September 13 and September 20.

The shutdown continues to be blamed on a shortage of semi-conductor microchips that has affected production at most automakers worldwide.

The shortage has resulted in Windsor Assembly being shut down on and off since March.
