UPDATE: Crash involving police cruiser snarls traffic on Huron Church

An investigation is ongoing following a two-vehicle crash involving a Windsor police cruiser.

The Windsor Police Service said the collision occurred on Saturday at around 2:30 p.m. on Huron Church Road near Malden Road.

One person has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police would not confirm if the injured person was a civilian or an officer.

Police said an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

All lanes of Huron Church Road were closed to traffic following the collision. The southbound lanes were reopened shortly before 4 p.m. but the northbound lanes remained closed until around 7 p.m. The closure caused traffic to be backed up on Huron Church for most of the day.
