NDP Candidate for Windsor West Brian Masse is emphasizing his support for the creation of the Ojibway National Urban Park.
While the last Liberal government announced its support for the project, it stated there may not be legislation created to protect the park lands.
"Yeah, you can have these announcements and say you're in favour of it, but if you are not going to do the hard work necessary, and grind it right down to where it needs to be done then you'll miss out on those opportunities," said Masse.
Masse says this is a huge miss and he is prepared to introduce legislation to create the park immediately.
"Doing it the way that it was announced a month ago, just putting them on a list and creating a working group, it does not empower those zone and those regions," said Masse.
He first proposed the Ojibway National Urban Park in 2019.
The Conservative Party has not indicated whether it supports the creation of the park.
The federal election is Monday, September 20, 2021.
