Man pulled from Detroit River in early-morning rescue

Windsor police were called to an emergency rescue for a man in the Detroit River early Sunday morning.

Police said the man was out on a kayak when it capsized just before 3:30 a.m.

The marine unit of Windsor police was called to pull the man from the water in the area of the 8700 block of Riverside Drive East.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital where he was treated for hypothermia.

The man was later released.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
