Walkerville wins gold at Canadian Brewing Awards

Walkerville Brewery in Windsor will have a couple more trophies to put in its display case after winning gold for two of its beers at the Canadian Brewing Awards in Quebec City.

The brewery won its first gold for Geronimo IPA. Another gold medal was awarded for its Road Block Dopplebock, a traditional German-style bock.

Geronimo has won a silver and a bronze in the past five years at the awards in 2020 and 2019.

The awards honoured the top three picks in 55 categories from beers across the country. Its medals are recognized as a symbol of Canada's brewing excellence.

"We're delighted to win two gold medals at the 2021 Canadian Brewing Awards," exclaimed co-owner Ian Gourlay.

The local brewery has won 12 medals in the past five years.

The Grove Brewing House in Kingsville earned recognition in 2019 and 2018 for its North American-style Premier Lager called Paradise Lager. It won two bronze medals.

Last year, the Kingsville Brewing Company also won a silver medal for its Light Eh! Lager in the Light Lager category.
