Cooking fire costs over $20K in damage at apartment in east Windsor

Windsor fire officials say a cooking mishap led to a small fire at a multi-plex in the city's east end early Monday evening.

Sometime around 6 p.m., firefighters were called to an apartment building on Pillette Road near Wyandotte Street East after a fire erupted in one of the units. Crews had the situation under control a short time later and began to ventilate the property for residual smoke.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators have determined the cause to be cooking-related and damage is pegged at $25,000.
