Health unit reports 43 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday

Of the 43 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Windsor-Essex on Thursday, 20 had close contact with another confirmed case.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit said two more are related to travel, one person got it from one of the region's 25 current outbreaks, and 14 people got the virus in the community.

Public health officials are still investigating how six other people were infected.

The health unit reported 261 active cases across the region on Thursday.

The percentage of residents over the age of 12 who are now fully vaccinated is 78.3 per cent, and 4,200 people have received their third dose of the vaccine.

There is a pop-up vaccination clinic on Thursday and Friday on the campus of the University of Windsor. It's operating in the Faculty of Education parking lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
