Driver charged after single-vehicle crash

A Leamington man is in trouble following a single-vehicle collision Monday night.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. on County Road 34 near County Road 18 in Kingsville. A vehicle was driven into a hydro pole, according to Constable Steven Duguay.

Officers from the OPP Kingsville detachment went to the scene with paramedics from Essex-Windsor EMS. While speaking with the driver, police determined he showed signs of impairment. The man was taken to the detachment for further testing.

The 34-year-old man is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, and operating with a blood concentration of over 80 mg of alcohol.

The man will have a chance to defend himself from the charges in a Windsor court on November 4.
