Windsor driver arrested after fleeing crash scene

A driver has been charged in connection with a crash in Windsor late Sunday night.

Windsor police say officers were called to Dougall Avenue near Nottingham Street at around 11:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found one vehicle involved in the collision. The other vehicle, a green Ford F-150 pickup truck, was driven from the scene before police arrived.

Police got a description of the driver and vehicle. Both were found a short time later near Longfellow Avenue and Norfolk Street. 

No one was injured in the crash, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.

The 37-year-old Windsor man is charged with impaired driving, operation with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, and breaching an undertaking by being outside his home with alcohol in his system. He is also charged with failing to stop at the scene of a crash.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Windsor police are asking people who live or own a business in the crash area, or near Longfellow Avenue and Norfolk Street, to check any security camera footage for potential evidence.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
