Classes and bus cohort dismissed from St. John Evangelist

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board has sent home two more classes and a bus cohort because of a case of COVID-19.

It learned of the case on Tuesday afternoon at St. John Evangelist Catholic Elementary School in Woodslee.

The school board has dismissals at ten schools across the region. Two, St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School, are closed.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit advised parents with children attending St. Gabriel that the school will be shuttered at least until the end of the week. Acting Medical Officer of Health Doctor Shanker Nesathurai said he would review new data on Wednesday, but there has been no decision whether to reopen it on Monday.

Parents found out on Tuesday St. Joseph was closed until further notice.

The Greater Essex County District School Board reports cases at seven schools this week. They are Amherstburg Public School, Belle River Public School, Herman Academy - Elementary, King Edward Public School, Queen Elizabeth Public School, Giles Campus French Immersion, and Essex District High School.
