UPDATE: New COVID-19 cases at Windsor Catholic schools

More students at Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School in Amherstburg have been told they'll have to learn from home for the next little while.

Another case of COVID-19 was confirmed there on Thursday. One class was dismissed. It's the second active case at the school, which has two active outbreaks of the virus.

There are cases at 18 schools in the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.

St. Joseph Catholic Elementary in River Canard remains closed.

The Greater Essex County District School Board also confirmed a new case on Thursday, at Margaret D. Bennie Public School in Leamington.

On Friday, a case was identified at Assumption College Catholic Middle School in Windsor. As a result one class and one bus cohort was dismissed.

Since Wednesday, infections have been confirmed at eight schools. The other seven are Tecumseh Vista Academy - Elementary, Tecumseh Vista Academy - Secondary, Queen Elizabeth Public School, Massey Secondary School, Kingsville District Secondary School, Gosfield North Public School, and Anderdon Public School.

So far this school year, that board has had 223 cases.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
