COVID-19 cases resume at St. Gabriel in Windsor

A Catholic elementary school in Windsor is now dealing with a new batch of COVID-19 cases.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board announced Monday evening that it had sent three classes and a bus cohort home from St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary after three confirmed cases were reported.

"We learned of the confirmed case Sunday evening and have notified the affected students that they were not to attend school Monday," said board spokesman Stephen Fields. "The health unit will notify those students when they are able to return to school."

Parents of students in the affected groups have already been notified, and are asked to keep their kids home and monitor them for symptoms.

St. Gabriel reopened last week after being closed by the health unit two weeks ago due to multiple cases of COVID-19.

As of Monday evening, 11 WECDSB schools reported cases. There were 19 active positive cases, all involving students.
