Leamington man charged after drug raid

A 39-year-old man is being held after a police raid uncovered illicit drugs and weapons.

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crimes Unit executed a warrant on a property on Mersea Road 6 Monday.

Unspecified quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin were seized. Related items were also confiscated, including five firearms, three crossbows, and ammunition. The total value of all the seized items came to $37,850.

The Leamington man is charged with break-and-enter to commit an offence, possession of stolen property under $5000, possession of an opioid other than heroin, possession of crystal meth, one count each of possession of heroin and methamphetamine with intent to sell, and possession of a weapon in violation of a probation order.

These charges have yet to be proven in court. The man was held pending a bail hearing in a Windsor court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
