UPDATE: Two COVID-19 cases reported at Leamington high school

The Greater Essex County District School Board reported a pair of COVID-19 cases at one of its secondary schools.

One student and one staff member from Leamington District Secondary School (LDSS) reportedly tested positive Wednesday.

There was no word on how many classes or bus cohorts were sent home, as the public board does not provide that information.

As of Wednesday evening, the English public board reported a total of 65 active COVID-19 cases, 54 of them involving students and the rest staff.

Meanwhile, at the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, two classes and one bus cohort were sent home Wednesday from St. Andre French Immersion Catholic Elementary in Tecumseh. Two positive tests were reported there, both involving students.

One class and one bus cohort were also dismissed from St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary in Windsor.

Board spokesman Stephen Fields said the groups at both schools were told not to report to the building on Thursday.

The English Catholic board had 20 active student cases as of Wednesday.
