Windsor couple celebrates Encore win

A Windsor couple will have a happy holiday season after winning on an OLG draw.

Walter Smith and Tracey Des Rosiers, who have been together for 30 years, matched the last six numbers in order out of the seven drawn playing Encore on November 30. The prize was $100,000. The Encore feature was activated by adding a dollar to a Lotto Max ticket.

"This ticket was a Free Play that we added ENCORE to," said Tracey while picking up their cheque last week at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. "I checked our ticket at the store and told the clerk that I thought the machine was broken because all I saw were a bunch of zeroes. When I took a closer look, I thought I was going to pass out."

Walter was waiting in the car while Tracey was in the store checking the ticket.

"I went into the store, and when I realized what was going on, I thought I was going to have a heart attack. My head was spinning for a week after that," said Walter.

The couple plan to use the winnings to purchase a house and get married.

The winning ticket was bought at Beckett’s Variety on Alma Street in Amherstburg.
