WAP headed for a three-week shutdown

The Windsor Assembly Plant is shutting down again, this time for three weeks in January.

Unifor Local 444 notified its members on Facebook that they are not to show up for work the weeks of January 3, January 10, and January 17, unless otherwise instructed to by their supervisor.

The plant frequently shut down over the past year because of a global microchip shortage.

The notice didn't say if the shortage was behind the latest halt in production.

Workers return to work on January 24.

The plant, owned by Stellantis, employs about 4,300 workers and manufactures the Chrysler Pacifica, Chrysler Voyager, and Chrysler Grand Caravan.
