Arson suspected in weekend fire on Erie Street

Windsor police believe a fire over the weekend may have been set on purpose.

Fire crews were called around 4 a.m. Saturday to a business on Erie Street East near Marion Avenue.

The structure had been extensively damaged, but no injuries were reported.

A preliminary investigation determined that the fire was suspicious. Investigators were on the scene for much of the weekend and now suspect arson as the cause of the blaze.

Police are asking anyone in the area with security cameras to check them. If they find any unusual footage, they should call the Windsor police arson unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4330. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
