SilverCity closing at end of 2022

SilverCity Windsor Cinemas will be closing at the end of the year.

Cineplex has confirmed the company has decided not to renew the lease at the Walker Road location when it expires at the end of 2022.

“This type of decision is not taken lightly but recalibration within a market is part of our ongoing strategic analysis of our theatre performance and is unrelated to our temporary closures in Ontario or COVID-19 and its impact on our business,” said Director of Communications Melissa Pressacco.

Cineplex Odeon Devonshire Mall will stay open.

“Based on pre-pandemic attendance levels, it was clear that movie-lovers in Windsor were gravitating towards the newer amenities at our nearby Cineplex Odeon Devonshire Mall Cinemas location. This theatre offers enhanced movie experiences that our guests love such as full recliner seating, UltraAVX and D-BOX Motion seats,” said Pressacco.

Silvercity has been open on Walker Road for 25 years.
