Pine Knob Music Theatre becomes Pine Knob Music Theatre

The old Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkson, Michigan will once again be known as the Pine Knob Music Theatre.

More than two decades after it changed its name to the "DTE Energy Music Theatre," it's going back to its original name.

Many concert-goers continued to use its original name, even after the name change in 2001.

It opened in 1972 with a matinee performance by David Cassidy. Over the years, it has hosted a long list of music acts, including Kid Rock, The Barenaked Ladies, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Billy Joel, and The Eagles.

Fifty years ago, it was the largest outdoor music venue in the U.S.

The amphitheatre also celebrates its 50th anniversary with a new logo.

313 Presents said the new logo, designed by Troy-based Simons-Michelson-Zieve Inc, captures the "beloved, scenic landscape symbolic of Michigan's premier summer concert destination."
