High-risk speeders keep OPP in Tecumseh busy all weekend

Two men from Windsor and one from Lakeshore likely face big fines for street racing over the weekend, including one going 70 km/h over the limit.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Ontario Provincial Police pulled over a vehicle going over 150 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 3 near Sexton Side Road.

Not only was the driver speeding, but police said he was also driving without valid insurance.

"Whether you're a novice driver or an experienced driver, the message remains the same," said the OPP. "Do your part and adhere to the speed limit, make safe lane changes, avoid following vehicles too closely, and drive with care and caution at all times."

The incident was one of three over the weekend.

Early Sunday morning, the OPP clocked a pickup truck on County Road 22 going 134 km/h, more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

An 18-year-old Lakeshore man is banned from driving for 30 days.

Just after midnight on Saturday, police also stopped a vehicle speeding on the 11th Concession. That driver was also charged with driving while prohibited and failing to surrender his license.
