New grocery market coming to east Windsor

A new grocery market brand is coming to Windsor.

The Mercato Fresh grocery market will be located in a newly constructed building on Banwell Road just south of Tecumseh Road East.

Mercato Fresh was established by Windsor butcher Marc Romualdi and restaurant owner Jonathan Reaume. This will be the second location for Mercato Fresh. The first was opened in Chatham in early 2020.

“It’s a one-stop-shop for all your fresh food and speciality grocery needs as well. We have our own Mercato Fresh coffee and our own Mercato Fresh olive oils,” said Romualdi.

The goal of the market is to offer the highest quality, freshest products at the best possible price.

“We’re big on working with our local farmers from Essex and Kent Counties,” said Romualdi. “We have a great relationship with all our suppliers, especially our local farmers.”

The market will also have a bakery, sushi, and freshly prepared food in a cafe setting.

“It will be like having a restaurant inside a grocery store,” said Reaume. “We change that menu daily based on seasonal ingredients and whatever the chef’s whim is from week to week.”

The owners are aiming for a fall opening. Rosati Construction will complete the build.
