Windsor suspect faces auto theft charges

A 33-year-old man has been charged with stealing a cargo van this week in Windsor.

Windsor police officers responded to a call Monday morning from a business on Devon Drive near the EC Row East service drive. A white Chevrolet cargo van was taken between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m.

According to Constable Darius Goze, the vehicle was found a short time later and returned to the rightful owner. A suspect was identified through security camera footage.

Around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, a patrol officer spotted the suspect near Park Avenue East and Goyeau Street and took him into custody.

The Windsor resident is charged with motor vehicle theft and theft under $5,000. The charges have not been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
