Howard Avenue closed due to fire

The Amherstburg Fire Department responded to a large fire on Howard Avenue Monday afternoon.

Around 2 p.m. fire crews were called out for a fire in a large pallet storage area.

Amherstburg Fire Chief Bruce Montone said he expected crews to be on the scene for most of the afternoon. He asked vehicles to avoid the area if possible.

Howard Avenue between North Side Road and Smith Industrial Drive was closed in both directions, but reopened shortly after 8 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
