Health unit moving Leamington mass vaccination clinic

The COVID-19 mass vaccination clinic at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre in Leamington closes on Saturday.

It's moving to the Grovedale House Community Hall in Kingsville. The location at 103 Park Street opens next Tuesday.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit opened the clinic on January 5 and has since administered over 5,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Monday, the Municipality of Leamington reopened the centre for recreational activities.

"I want to thank the Municipality of Leamington for opening their doors a second time to set up a mass vaccination clinic at their recreation centre," said WECHU CEO Nicole Dupuis.

It will have been the second time the health unit used the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre to innoculate the public. In March 2021, the clinic first opened there and administered 44,000 shots to the public before closing last August.

The new site will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., for pre-booked appointments and walk-ins.

Vaccines are still available through participating pharmacies in the region, healthcare providers, pop-up clinics in the community, and mass vaccination sites at Devonshire Mall and Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.

Appointments can be booked online at WEVAX.ca or by calling the booking line at 226-773-2200.
