License suspended, vehicle impounded for going 55 km/h over speed limit

An Ontario Provincial Police officer has slapped a ticket for street racing on a driver clocked going over 50 km/h over the speed limit in Lakeshore.

The officer was using RADAR to monitor speed on County Road 22 just before midnight last Friday night when he caught a vehicle going 135 km/h.

The speed limit there is 80 km/h.

When he pulled the vehicle over, it became apparent the driver had been drinking too.

A 21-year-old Lakeshore man had his license suspended for three days for the alcohol offence and 30 days for the driving violation. His vehicle is also impounded for two weeks.

He'll also have to appear in court in Windsor on a charge of racing a motor vehicle.
