Sawed-off shot gun seized from west end home

An Essex man is facing a number of weapons charges after police were called to a home on California Avenue early Thursday morning.

The Windsor Police Service responded to a firearms call around 5:45 a.m.

When police arrived they asked the occupants to exit the home. All occupants cooperated with police and the suspect was arrested without incident.

Police found a sawed-off shotgun along with an ammunition belt inside the home. A stolen vehicle was also found on the property.

A 28-year-old is facing a number of charges including possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of stolen property.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
