Average price to buy a home in Windsor-Essex leaps over ten per cent

The average selling price in Windsor-Essex rose another 10.66 per cent last month from the month before.

The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors' January report said the average price was $636,422. In December, the association said the average price was $575,069.

From January 2021, the increase is 26.37 per cent. A year ago, you could expect to buy a home in this region for $503,609 on average.

While sales in January dipped 4.59 per cent from a year ago, market activity increased 10.98 per cent, suggesting a hot real estate market shows little sign of cooling off.

A total of 416 homes sold last month compared to 436 a year ago, but 546 properties went on the market compared to 492 in January 2021.

The association says most homes sold were in the $420,000 to $$699,999 price range.
