WECHU reports another four COVID-19 related deaths

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported four new COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

Two men in their 80s and two men in their 90s passed away after testing positive for the virus.  There have been 569 deaths associated with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic nearly two years ago.

The health unit also identified 94 new high-risk cases. There are 656 known active cases in the community.

Local hospitals are currently treating 68 patients who have tested positive for the virus. There are 12 patients in the intensive care unit.

There are 53 active COVID-19 outbreaks that are being monitored.

To date, 81.6 per cent of eligible residents are fully vaccinated and 51.9 per cent have received a booster dose.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
