WECHU reports another COVID-19 death

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported one more COVID-19 related death in the last 24 hours.

A man in his 80s passed away after testing positive for the virus. However, the total number of deaths in the region, 573, remains unchanged because of what the health unit is calling routine data clean-up.

Currently, there are 34 patients in local hospitals who have tested positive for the virus.

Windsor Regional Hospital has 27 patients in its care but only 10 of them have been admitted because of the virus. There are three patients in the ICU and all of them have been fully vaccinated.

At Erie Shores Healthcare, seven patients have been admitted who have tested positive for COVID-19. Three of those are being treated for other complaints.

The health unit continues to monitor 26 active outbreaks in the community.
