OPP seize $2.7M of illegal cannabis

Ontario Provincial Police in Leamington seized $2.7 million of cannabis from an abandoned illegal cannabis grow op.

The Municipality of Leamington and the OPP attended the greenhouse on Mersea Road with a court order to dismantle the operation.

Officers seized almost 500 pounds of dried processed cannabis bud in vacuum-sealed bags, as well as over 2,200 cannabis plants.

"Joint enforcement is appreciated and crucial in successfully curtailing the ongoing illegal cannabis enterprises that continue to immerse themselves in our communities. We will continue to utilize whatever resources are available to stop these prohibited grows," said Sergeant Chhieau with the Community Street Crime Unit.

The investigation is ongoing. There have been no reports of any charges in relation to this illegal grow operation.
