Stolen vehicle collides with police vehicle

A LaSalle police officer is recovering from a minor concussion after a stolen vehicle collided with his cruiser Monday morning.

The white 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck was reported stolen just after 5 a.m. Monday from a property in LaSalle.

While searching for the truck, police spotted it turning onto Bethlehem Street in Windsor. Two police officers positioned their cruisers on the roadway to block the vehicle from escaping. The pickup truck raced toward the police vehicles and crashed head-on into one before taking off.

The officer had a cut on his head and a mild concussion. He was treated and released from the hospital.

The truck was found abandoned on Jamaica Court by the Windsor Police Service around 6 a.m. Monday morning. The driver of the vehicle has not been identified.  He is described as a white man in his mid-20s with dark hair.  Anyone in the area with surveillance cameras is asked to check their footage for possible evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the LaSalle Police Service at 519-969-5210, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477.
