WECHU reports 142 new cases

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit recorded 142 new high-risk cases over the weekend.

Due to current testing protocols, this is an underrepresentation of the burden of disease in the region.

There are 194 known active cases in the community.

Windsor Regional Hospital reports 17 patients in its care who have tested positive for the virus. There are two patients in the intensive care unit and both are unvaccinated.

There are four COVID-19 positive patients admitted to Erie Shores Healthcare, and Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare reported less than five patients in its care.

The health unit is monitoring outbreaks at ten locations including five long-term care homes.
