WECHU reports 1 COVID-19 related death

A woman in her 70s has passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported the additional death Friday along with 69 new high-risk cases of the virus.

There are now 294 known active cases in the community. This is an underrepresentation of virus activity in the region due to current testing restrictions.

Local hospitals are treating 28 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. There are two patients in the intensive care unit.

There are five active outbreaks, three at long-term care homes and two at community congregate settings.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
