COVID-19 outbreaks rising again

The number of COVID-19 outbreaks in the community is rising.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is now monitoring 12 active outbreaks. There are outbreaks at five long-term care or retirement homes, five at community congregate settings, and two in hospital units.

There were 87 new high-risk cases identified on Friday. There are now 292 active cases.

Local hospitals are treating 34 patients who have tested positive for the virus. There are three patients in the intensive care unit.

To date, 83.2 per cent of eligible residents have been fully vaccinated and 50.6 per cent of eligible residents have had a booster shot.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
