Suspect arrested in vicious assault on taxi driver

A 30-year-old Windsor man faces one count of aggravated assault after an attack on a taxi driver that left him with life-altering injuries earlier this month.

The taxi driver was on Erie Street West at Victoria Avenue around 9:30 p.m. on March 12 when an object hit his vehicle. When he stopped to investigate, a man smashed his driver's side window. He was injured by the glass.

The charge has not been proven in court.

A second man identified in the original report is not considered a suspect and is not wanted by police.

Police say although they've made an arrest, it's still an open investigation, and they hope witnesses will come forward. They are also looking for any video of the assault.

They can contact the Major Crime Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or leave a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.
