Windsor-Essex records 253 new COVID-19 cases over three days

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported 253 new high-risk COVID-19 cases over the weekend.

There are 313 known active cases in the community.  Due to current testing restrictions, this does not represent the full burden of the disease in the community.

Local hospitals have 38 patients admitted who have tested positive for the virus. There are three patients in the intensive care unit.

The health unit is monitoring 13 active outbreaks in the community. There are known outbreaks within five long-term care or retirement homes, three hospital units, and five community congregate settings.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
